RSP NEPAL – 28TH JUNE – 7TH JULY 2019
The students of B. Arch(2017 Batch)went to Nepal for Related Study Program (RSP) from 28th June to 7th July, 2019 escorted by Prof.Ankit Kumar and Prof. Deval Gandhi.Kathmandu valley originally inhabited by the Newars, flourished during Mala era and is divided into three kingdoms- Patan, Bhaktapur and Kathmandu.A visit was made to these three places along with some other tourist destinations such as Pokhara and Chitwan National Park.The Related Study Programme (RSP) is a significant tool to improve teaching- learningprocess. It is a great learning experience, opening new vistas and take students on an in-triguing journey, amalgamating theoretical and practical knowledge. This RSP is aboutexploring the rich cultural diversity and architectural styles in various context of Nepal. Nepal is also known as “the country of heritage sites”. Nepal’s unique art, craft, andarchitecture are famous across the globe. Kathmandu and the neighbouring cities ofPatan and Bhaktapur are known for pagoda-style and shikhara temples, Buddhist stupas,palaces, and multi-story brick houses with elaborately carved wooden door framesand screened windows. The students understood about the richcultural diversity and architectural character of various buildings in surrounding context and documented the same.

LALITHPUR, PATAN DURBAR SQUARE
Patan Durbar square has three courtyards -Mulchok, sundarichok and keshav Narayan chok, which arefull of Hindu temples and Buddhist monuments with bronze gateways, guardian deities, wonderful carvings and handicrafts. Krishna temple, Bhimsen temple, TuljaBhawani temple are fewof them.
THE CITY OF DEVOTEES – BHAKTAPUR
The cultural capital of Nepal is Bhaktapur, also recognized as a world HERITAGE SITE by the UNESCO. The recent earthquake has severely affected tourism in Bhaktapur because of major destruction of monuments. An active effort is being made to reconstruct the lost glory.
KANTIPUR- KATHMANDU DURBAR SQUARE
Kathmandu Durbar Square, also known as Hanuman-Dhoka Durbar Square, is one of the traditional settlements of the Kathmandu Valley and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
KIRTIPUR
Kirtipur is an ancient city of nepal. It is located 5 km south-west of the city of Kathmandu. It is one of the five municipalities in the valley, the others being Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur and MadhyapurThimi. It is one of the most famous and religious places to visit. Many people visit this place to not only to see the beauty of nature but also to visit temples. The city was listed as a UNESCO tentative site in 2008
