The Institute of Architecture and Planning celebrated its 6th Foundation Day on August 19, 2019. The Institute was delighted and honoured to have Dr DS Meshram, President, ITPI as Chief guest and Prof PVK Rameshwar, practising Architect, Urban designer and academician and Dr Salila Vanka, Professor at RV College of Architecture, Bengaluru as Keynote speakers. Shri Pradeep Kapoor, Secretary-General, ITPI, Shri N K Patel, Chairman, ITPI Gujarat Chapter and eminent people from the Nirma University, Shri K K Patel, Vice-President and Dr Anup K Singh, Director General also graced the occasion.
Professor Utpal Sharma, Director, Institute of Architecture and Planning delivered the welcome address. He traced the journey of the Institute of Architecture and Planning since inception.
Chief guest Dr DS Meshram shared his professional experience in the field of architecture and planning with students and faculty members. He was also amazed to see the Institute though being relatively new is standing firm and competing with well established renowned colleges of Architecture and Planning in India.
Dr Salila Vanka expressed her gratitude for being called in the Institute of Architecture and Planning, Nirma University as one of the keynote speakers. She talked about the typology of open spaces in the Indian Context, citing various examples from Bengaluru city.
Prof PVK Rameshwar talked about the various aspects of Urban Planning in different Indian cities. He also stressed on the need to look at Indian planning issues with indigenous lens and not through mere emulation of western concepts and models.
