2021-2022

• Institute of Architecture & Planning along with its 16 partner institutes organized the first International Conference on ‘Future is Urban’: Livability, Resilience & Resource conservation from December 16 to 18, 2021. The Conference was enriched by the deliberations & august presence of leading Scholars, Academicians and Experts from across the globe in the field of Urban planning, Urban design & Architecture.
• IAPNU received a Special Mention in the Writing Architecture trophy (WAT 2020-21) in the 63rd year of the Annual NASA (National Associate of Students of Architecture)

2020-2021

• IAPNU undertook a consultancy project in collaboration with the Gujarat Institute of Development Research (GIDR), Ahmedabad for the National Centre for Sustainable Coastal Management (NCSCM), Chennai – a nodal agency under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), Government of India.
• IAPNU received ‘The Leading and most promising Architecture College of the year-2021 Award’ by ‘The Architecture & Interior Design Excellence Awards, Bangalore’ on 26th February 2021. Prof Utpal Sharma, Director, IAPNU received ‘Award for Excellence in Best Leadership’ by ‘Economic Growth Foundation, New Delhi’ on 28th October 2020, and ‘Rashtriya Shiksha Samman Puraskar’ by ‘Intellectual Peoples Foundation’ on 18th February 2021.
• IAPNU engaged itself as a part of the Urban Resilience and Adaptation for India and Mongolia: Curricula, Capacity, ICT and Stakeholder Collaboration to support Green & Blue Infrastructure and Nature- Based Solutions (URGENT Project) which is a collaboration between universities across countries to modify curricula, enable capacity building of partner institutes and country, develop ICT based courses and stakeholder collaboration for better outreach. A work plan has been formulated for the same for a project duration from 15th Jan 2021 to 14th Jan 2024.
• IAPNU along with EPFL (École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne), Switzerland as part of IGLUS (Innovative Governance of Large Urban System) Centre of Excellence (ICE) has successfully concluded the first Online Certificate Programme. The certificate programme had 52 participants and the sessions were taken by renowned experts from the global network of IAPNU and EPFL.

2019-2020

• IAPNU participated in the 62nd Zonal Annual NASA (National Association of Students of Architecture) held at Amity University, Mumbai. For ‘Reubens’ Trophy it was awarded ‘Citation’ (Winner) and was also judged as the best college for academic excellence.
• IAPNU along with GIFTCL (Gujarat International Finance Tec City Company Limited), collaborated with IGLUS (Innovative Governance of Large Urban System)– an action research platform of EPFL (École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne), Switzerland to establish “IGLUS Centre of Excellence” a Smart City Lab with support from Government of Gujarat. The MoU was signed by the three organisations on 27th January 2020 at GIFT City Gandhinagar.
• Head of the Institute IAPNU, Dr Utpal Sharma received the prestigious Devang Mehta National Education Award for education leadership at Mumbai on November 22, 2019.
• Nantes Graduate School of Architecture branch located in Mauritius, Campus Pierrefonds invited Prof Vibha Gajjar and Prof Foram Bhavsar from IAPNU for Transversal Seminar from November 18 to 25, 2019 planned for students of Master’s in Architecture and Urbanism. This included lectures, workshops, identified research topics, and future proposals for academic activities.

2015-2018

• • In February 2018, Bonjour India Future Tour was an initiation to strengthen the partnerships between India and France through education, training, research and innovation. The tour included interactions between scientists, academicians, companies and students from both the countries. The Institute of Architecture and Planning was a partner in hosting the 2-day event.
  • Prof. Utpal Sharma, the Director of the Institute of Architecture and Planning, was awarded Honorary Doctorate by ‘Ecole Superieure Robert DE Sorbon’ France on 7th September 2018 in New Delhi
  • The Institute of Architecture and Planning has become member of Council of Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat which is a professional society dedicated to providing international interaction and access to sate-of-the-art knowledge on the design,construction,operation and maintenance of tall buildings and their place in the urban environment.
  • Indo – Global Architecture Education Excellence Award – 2015 was presented to the Institute of Architecture,Nirma University for promoting quality education in the field of architecture by maintaining and implementing the high standards of Architectural Education.
