Call for entries for the Competition of Cover Page Design for IAPNU’s Student Research Journal – SANDARBH

 Purpose:
We invite final-year students to showcase their creativity and design skills by creating an enthralling cover page for the Student Research Journal, “SANDARBH.” This cover will represent the journal’s mission to celebrate and promote innovative research conducted by the students and alumni at the Institute of Architecture and Planning, Nirma University under the mentorship of faculty members.

About the Journal:

  • Name: Sandarbh
  • Focus:Student research in the domain of architecture and the built environment.
  • Audience:students, academicians, scholars, researchers, and the broader academic community.
  • Core Values:knowledge, innovation, creativity, integrity, and collaboration.
  • Meaning of ‘SANDARBH’:The word “Sandarbh” means context or reference in several Indian languages. It is a core idea in the domains of architecture, design and planning that lay heavy emphasis on the context or setting – be it the physical, socio-cultural, temporal – and several layers thereof. The word also symbolizes the importance of research as a cornerstone of knowledge and understanding.

Design Requirements:

  1. Concept:
    • Resonates with the meaning of “SANDARBH”described earlier in reference to the built environment and research.
    • Relevant to the theme of knowledge (creation and dissemination of).
    • Symbolizes diversity, creativity, and academic growth.
    • The design must align with the journal’s professional and academic nature.
  2. Style:
    • Clean, modern, and visually appealing.
    • Should resonate with students, faculty, and the academic community.
  3. Elements:
    • Include the title “SANDARBH”
    • Space for the publisher, volume/ issue numberand year (e.g., Volume 1, 2024).
  4. Color Scheme:
    • Use a professional and academic color palette.
    • Subtle gradients or bold contrasts are acceptable, but avoid overly bright or flashy colors.
  5. Technical Specifications:
    • Size:A4 portrait format (8.27 x 11.69 inches).
    • Resolution:Minimum 300 DPI.
    • File Format:High-resolution PDF or JPEG.
    • Include a layered source file (PSD, AI, or EPS).

Eligibility:

  • Open to all final-yearstudents of the institute at UG level and all students of PG level. Individuals or teams of two may participate.

Timeline:

  • Submission Deadline:(1st March, 2025)
  • Results Announcement:(during KALP in the first week of March, 2025)

Submission Guidelines:

  1. Submit your design to sandarbhjournal@nirmauni.ac.inwith the subject: SANDARBH Cover Page Submission.
  2. Include a short concept note (maximum 150 words) explaining your design choices.
  3. Ensure all fonts and images used are free for commercial/educational use.

Judging Criteria:

  1. Creativity and originality.
  2. Relevance to the journal’s name (SANDARBH) and its focus on research.
  3. Aesthetic appeal and clarity.
  4. Technical execution (resolution, format, layout).

Prize:

  • Winner:Cash prize of Rs.5,000/- with certificate and maiden journal feature.
  • Runners-up:Recognition certificates and journal feature in subsequent issues.
