Annual student festival of IAPNU – ‘Kalp 2020’
‘Kalp’ is the Annual student festival of Institute of Architecture and Planning. It is a festival in which students display work done by them throughout the year, get an opportunity to interact with professional and experts of the field, inter-disciplinary interaction, interaction and celebration with fellow students of all semesters and other departments and colleges too, conduct and attend or be a part of workshops, display their installations made collaboratively by them prior to the event, etc. Thus this is an event that promotes learning with fun and also widens their vision and learning with interactions with varied groups of people.
Institute of Architecture and Planning, Nirma University successfully conducted their Annual student festival Kalp from 10th to 12th February 2020. The festival started with the ribbon cutting ceremony with the opening of the exhibition of student works of the previous semesters. It was followed by a talk by renowned academician and scholar Prof. Jaimini Mehta on Modernity and Modernism. This was then followed by various student fun events and competitions like In-house sports, Treasure hunt, Cyanotype workshop and Kavitra.
The second day included Panel discussion on Future of architectural education and Planning for climate change. It included eminent speakers like Ar. Jayesh Hariyani, Prof. Neelkanth Chhaya, Ar. Rajeev Kathpalia, Ar. Riaz Tayyibji, Prof. Anil Roy.
It was followed by events like quiz competition, workshop on landscape and marble art.The day ended with a cultural night
The Final day was culminated by guest lecture by Dr. Amarjeet Singh, Prof Jamal Ansari and Lt Gen. Vishwambhar Singh. Dr. Amarjeet Singh who is chairman of RERA, Gujarat shared his valuable thoughts on real estate development in India. Prof. Jamal Ansari former professor at School of Planning and Architecture, Delhi shared his experiences in Master plan development of Noida and Greater Noida.Lt Gen. Vishwambhar Singh, a three-star general of the Indian army who is an architect and senior from IIT Roorkee made a stimulating presentation on the Role of an architect in the Indian army.
