Organised by the Institute of Architecture and Planning, Nirma University, Ahmedabad
The Institute of Architecture and Planning, Nirma University, Ahmedabad (IAPNU) observed National Sports Day on 29th August 2026 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Major Dhyan Chand. The programme was organised under the Fit India Movement, with the theme “Khelega Bharat, Jeetega Bharat” and the message “Tribute, Play and Move.”
The programme focused on the importance of sports, physical activity and fitness in student life, highlighting their role in physical health, mental well-being, concentration, discipline, teamwork and resilience. It also encouraged students to maintain a healthy balance between academics and physical fitness.
The programme was attended by 50 students from Nirma University. As part of the observance, a sports and fitness pledge were undertaken, encouraging students to make regular physical activity a part of their daily lives.
The programme was supported by a dedicated team of faculty members and student coordinators who contributed to its successful execution. The faculty coordinators guided and motivated the students, shared valuable insights on the importance of sports and fitness, and encouraged active participation.
Sports Faculty Coordinators: Prof. Ar. Biswanath Mudi, Prof. Nishant Kansagara — guided students on the importance of sports, fitness and maintaining an active lifestyle.
Yoga Coordinators: Dr. Prakash Patel, Dr. Hina Mori — encouraged students towards yoga, physical well-being and regular fitness practices.
Coordinator, Student Welfare Activities & Programme Coordinator, NSS: Dr. Nilesh Limbachiya — supported the overall coordination and student engagement during the programme. Sports Secretaries: Disha Mitesh Patel, Haard Dhinal Joshi — assisted in managing the event, coordinating student participation and supporting the smooth conduct of the sports activities and pledge.
Volunteer Coordinators:
Patel Ashka Ragesh kumar, Maharshi Thakkar — coordinated student volunteers, managed on-ground arrangements and assisted in the smooth execution of the programme and pledge.
The collective efforts of the faculty members, Sports Secretaries, Volunteer Coordinators, and students contributed to the successful conduct of the National Sports Day observance. The programme concluded with the message that “a healthy body supports a healthy mind,” encouraging students to embrace an active lifestyle and carry forward the spirit of “Khelega Bharat, Jeetega Bharat.”
