The fifth session of the Expert Talk Series at the Institute of Architecture & Planning, Nirma University, featured Vaibhav Kapoor, Associate Director at NEPRA Resource Management, as the keynote speaker. The session, titled “Talking ‘Trash’ – Solid Waste Management,” focused on the waste management process in Ahmedabad, the challenges in efficient waste disposal, and how architects and planners can contribute to achieving the goals of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Kapoor emphasized the importance of sustainable design solutions, innovative waste segregation systems, and urban planning strategies to create cleaner and more efficient cities. The lecture encouraged future architects to integrate circular economy principles and waste-conscious design into urban environments. The session concluded with a very interesting question-and-answer discussion, where students and faculty engaged in insightful conversations on the future of waste management and sustainable urban practices.
