Instruction, innovation and involvement with the community are the three vital activities of any university. The Nirma University is highly engaged in extension activities through its students with a view to build the neighbouring communities on one hand and to foster psychosocial development of students on the other.
The extension activities are divided into three categories. The first category is integrated into the curriculum and includes activities like an internship with the NGOs. The second category consists of structured long-term engagement with communities through the various national social schemes, where the students spend around two weeks in surrounding communities serving the community. The third category comprises short duration activities by student organisations like a visit to old age homes, organising blood donation camps, teaching the underprivileged, etc.
